$130.00
sold out

Join Jane for a gentle morning away from the hustle and bustle of life to absorb yourself in a creative space of clay and mindfulness.

ABOUT

This small-group workshop combines mindfulness, reflection and working with clay in a relaxed and supportive environment. The focus is on the experience of creating rather than achieving a particular outcome. You will be encouraged to notice the feel and the movement of the clay, your responses as you work, and to approach the creative process with curiosity rather than judgement

You can spend time of the pottery wheel, hand-build, or move between both. No previous pottery experience is needed, and there is no right or wrong way to create. Gentle mindfulness and reflective prompts are incorporated throughout the workshop, while allowing you to work at your own pace.

All clay, tools and equipment are provided. You may choose up to three pieces to be fired and glazed for collection approximately 2-3 weeks after the workshop.

This is your workshop , You are welcome to participate, reflect and create in the way that feels comfortable for you.

Here is some information on what to expect:

WHEEL THROWING

Jane will give a short demonstration on how she centres and throws clay. Please know that each potter has their own technique.

Unlimited clay available for you to use.

If you want to get a bit of a head start with the techniques, have a look at the demonstration by:

Simon Leach https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TZQWNkPiyA

Or, if you want to get completely inspired then Florian Gatsby on Instagram

HANDBUILDING

Jane suggests you have a think about what you would like to make. For example….. Coiled coffee mug, beaker, bowl, jug, vase etc.

Coming with an idea helps but do not stress, as often when you work with clay ideas morph, change and you move into a state of flow.

GLAZING

Jane will chat about glazing throughout the workshop. As this is a single experience your chosen pieces will need to dry, be trimmed, bisque and then finally glazed.

All of the pieces you choose to keep may be decorated on the day (weather depending), to which Jane will finish with a clear glaze.
